Which perm does what
Perm names can be confusing, so here is a plain guide to the general idea of each group.
- Standard and design perms: add curl or wave to cut hair. A design perm shapes the curl to the cut.
- Heat perm (열펌): uses heat tools to set the curl, which often gives a softer, looser wave that suits styled hair.
- Digital or setting perm: a heated method that tends to give defined curls.
- Volume magic and root perm: lift hair at the root to fight flat tops.
- Magic straight perm: relaxes curl or frizz for straighter hair.

Hair history comes first
Perms use chemicals, so previous treatments matter. Tell the designer about bleach, color, earlier perms and straightening, with approximate dates. How long a perm lasts
