Are Korean hair salons worth it?
Korean hair salons are often worth it for perms, color and hair care, because services are detailed and prices are usually listed, but value depends on what you want and how well you prepare. Use one salon’s menu as a reference and compare it with your needs.

What people usually mean by worth it
“Worth it” means different things: the quality of the result, the price, the care taken and how easy the visit is. A salon visit is worth it when the result matches your photo, the price was clear before you started and you know how to keep the hair looking good at home.
We cannot judge every salon in Korea. What we can do is describe what usually makes the difference, and show what one salon, WENEED Haeundae, lists.
Where Korean salons often offer clear value
- Perms: Korean salons offer many types, such as digital, heat and root perms. A menu that names them lets you compare. See Korean perm types explained.
- Color and bleach: detailed color services are common, including root touch-ups and tone changes.
- Care: clinic-style treatments and scalp care are common menu items, and the names on a menu usually tell you the goal, such as repair or scalp care.
- Cuts built around a shape: many cuts are designed around face shape, hair thickness and how you style.
This is a general picture. It does not mean every salon is the same, and quality still depends on the designer.

What can reduce the value
- An unclear goal. If you cannot show what you want, the result is harder to predict.
- Hair history left out. Previous bleach or perms change what is safe.
- Booking a big change for the last day of a trip. Many services are easier to correct if you have a few days left.
- Extras added without asking the price. Ask first.
Value also depends on honesty about limits. A designer who tells you a look is not possible in one visit, or that your hair needs a rest first, is giving you useful information. The designer can only work with what they see. Photos and clear information bring the most benefit, whichever salon you use.
How to decide for yourself
- Write down the result you want and find two or three photos.
- Find the menu price for that service. Look for the “from” price and what changes it.
- Check access and hours: WENEED Haeundae is open daily 10:00–20:00 and on the 2nd floor, reached by stairs only.
- Add the aftercare cost: perms and color usually need a routine at home.
